CURVES & FERRARI
Craig Ellwood, the great Californian architect, used to affirm that curves are allowed only to women and Ferraris. This statement gave birth to California, a chaise-longue inspired by the curvilinear profile of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB (whose short wheelbase enhances the harmony of curves) in order to design an object with sensual shapes. Summarily, California aims to evoke the atmosphere and style of an era.
DESIGN & MATERIALS
Vehicle’s profile defines the sides of the shape and the famous “air vent” grille, asymmetrically embedded, anticipates the vitality of the front bonnet stretched out in the void.
Modelled in handcrafted flexwood, upholstered in natural full- grain leather for the shape and smooth calfskin for the backrest and seat; blade connecting to the frame in polished aluminium with a thickness of 5 mm;
Frame lattice made of mixed steel tubes of l6 mm and 11 mm, blowpipe welding, satin chrome plated. “AIR BLOWER” grid in steel blade and fins in mirror polished aluminium, entirely handcrafted.
