FROM FUNCTION TO FORM
One could for once try to reinterpret Louis Sullivan’s statement that it has become the mantra of modernist architecture and design: “The form follows the function”. We could think of a function just to have an indication of form, and then that function almost forgot it. Holstein was born as a saddle rack and became a sculpture, characterized by the hieratic nature of forms rather than the function that generated it.
DESIGN &MATERIALS
A saddle rack in solid ash wood, sanded and finished by hand. Open-pore painting, with water-based paints. Wall fixing plate in polished aluminium of 3 mm.
